Discover the land of a thousand lakes, the midnight sun, the northern lights and so much more.
Finland is the least visited of the Nordic countries and is still under the radar for most tourists. This diverse country has a lot to offer. Come and discover Finland for yourself and see if you agree with the United Nations, who listed Finland in 2020 as the happiest country (for the fourth consecutive year!).
Finland has four main areas:
Helsinki
Continental Europe’s northernmost capital, located on the Baltic Sea. Helsinki has a diverse selection of museums and is known for its culture, art and architecture. Our travel destination guide provides more information about things to do and places to see in Helsinki.
Lakeland
The heart of the country is the Finnish Lakeland. Finland is known as the “ the land of a thousand lakes”, there are actually around 188,000 lakes in Finland. Around two-thirds of Finland is covered in forest. There is plenty of nature to explore.
Lapland
Far north above the Arctic Circle, the dark, cold winters give you a chance to experience the spectacular Northern Lights. During the summer months, 24-hour daylight and the midnight sun results in endless summer days. Meet Santa Claus (all year-round) or explore the vast swathes of wilderness that stretch on for miles.
Coastline
Beautiful coastline stretching the length of the Gulf of Bothnia to the archipelago islands of the autonomous Swedish-speaking Åland Islands.
